Local Church Saved From Tenant's Land Contract Forgery
The Franklin County Court of Common Pleas recently issued a decision favorable to a church whose pastor was falsely accused of signing a land contract with a tenant of the Church's property in Columbus, Ohio.
The Court methodically and thoughtfully worked through the forgery and property theft offenses, the forcible entry and detainer statutes, and unjust enrichment issues at play in The Lord Jesus Christ's Church v. Crockett case. We now have more clarity about what constitutes 'forgery' in land contract cases, and how indispensable the testimony is of a qualified forensic handwriting expert.
